Gitea and Vaultwarden both have SQLite databases. We'll need to add
some logic to ensure these are in a consistent state before beginning
the backup. Fortunately, neither of them are very busy databases, so
the likelihood of an issue is pretty low. It's definitely more
important to get backups going again sooner, and we can deal with that
later.
Gitea needs SMTP configuration in order to send e-mail notifications
about e.g. pull requests. The `gitea_smtp` variable can be defined to
enable this feature.
Gitea package names (e.g. OCI images, etc.) can contain `/` charactres.
These are encoded as %2F in request paths. Apache needs to forward
these sequences to the Gitea server without decoding them.
Unfortunately, the `AllowEncodedSlashes` setting, which controls this
behavior, is a per-virtualhost setting that is *not* inherited from the
main server configuration, and therefore must be explicitly set inside
the `VirtualHost` block. This means Gitea needs its own virtual host
definition, and cannot rely on the default virtual host.
Since Gitea servers may be exposed directly to the Internet, it is
important to prevent SSH tunneling, lest the server become an ingress
point into the network.
Additionally, the *gitea* user should not be allowed to use password
authentication, as this would only work if the user actually has a
password (which it does not) and would result in shell access instead of
Gitea.
